web2339_9x12.jpg (115411 bytes)A Sit-In Adventure: Ever wished you could sit in the middle of an orchestra? Let's do it! Continuing a tradition started several years ago, we invite students to sit in with the orchestra for dress rehearsal. Dress rehearsal starts at 9:30 a.m., the Saturday morning before each Sunday concert. Check individual concert details for the location of the particular concert and its dress rehearsal. Students may sit on stage in their chosen instrumental section. Parents, your children will love it!. We orchestra members love it! Just show up and we will find students a place to sit. If sitting in the audience seats is preferred, that's fine too. Come and sit with us! (Questions? Contact conductor, Carl Johnson, at seabjay@yahoo.com.)

Who Are We?  Under the baton of Music Director and Conductor, Carl Johnson, the Des Moines Community Orchestra is composed mainly of non-professional musicians whose love of music keeps them coming together to perform the great symphonic works of the masters, as well as new works by living composers.

In addition to a love of classical music, the orchestra is deeply committed to making classical music concerts accessible to everyone, regardless of financial resources. Musician members pay dues in order to keep admission free to the public!

Also, so that  financial obstacles won't prevent a musician from becoming a member of the orchestra, fellowships are available to underwrite the dues obligation.
