The Des Moines Community Orchestra is a non-profit organization run by its members, who annually elect a seven member board of directors from orchestra membership. Terms on the board are two years. The board of directors is in charge managing the affairs of the orchestra, including hiring a Music Director and Conductor. Currently, Carl Johnson is the Music Director and Conductor of the Des Moines Community Orchestra. The following musician-members were elected to the Board of Directors by the membership of the Des Moines Community Orchestra. Elections are held each spring at the end of each concert season. The following table lists board member responsibilities for the current season. The board elects officers at their first meeting following the annual business meeting of the full orchestra membership in May.
A multitude of activities are required for the success of the orchestra. The main categories of needs will be managed by the individuals listed below. Many other contributions will be needed, and all orchestra members are urged to help with the various tasks that will appear in the Jobs List. Please be willing to volunteer for these jobs.
